Vaishali has emerged as a historical and scenic place, associated with Buddha and Jain Tirthankars. It is considered to be the birthplace of Jain Tirthankar, Mahavira, by the Swetambar sect of Jains.The town derives its name from King Vishal, whose heroic deeds are narrated in the Hindu epic Ramayana. It was here that Buddha preached his last sermon and announced his approaching Nirvana. It is the worldps first democracy with a duly elected council - Vajji. |

Bawan Pokhar Temple :- An old temple built in
the Pala period stands on the northern bank of a tank known as Bawan
Pokhar where a large number of Hindu deities are enshrined at one place
and worshipped together. Chaumukhi Mahadeva :- A temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is a lingam built of black stone with four faces of Lord Shiva carved on it. Kundanpur :- It was the birthplace of the Jain Tirthankar, Lord Mahavira born over 2550 years ago. Mahavir is said to have spent the first 22 years of his life here.
