The excavated remains of the Buddhist civilization have been reconstructed and are carefully preserved at Nagarjunakonda, a unique Island museum, situated in the midst of the man-made Nagarjunasagar Lake. The island takes its name from the Buddhist monk, Nagarjuna, who lived around 2nd century AD. It was once the capital of the Ikshvaku rulers. The museum houses a stupendous collection of relics of Buddhist art and culture. |

Anupu :- Located 8 Kms. away from the
Nagarjunasagar dam, Anupu is a site of Buddhist excavations reconstructed
to perfection with painstaking effort. Several brick structures such as
Amphitheater, Maha Vihara, Asthabhuja Swamy Temple, Sarvadeva Temple &
Hariti Temple were reconstructed. Nagarjunakonda :- Remnants of a rich bygone era, unearthed from the excavations carried out by archeologists at Nagarjunasagar, have been preserved in a museum on a beautiful island hill called Nagarjuna Konda. Nagarjunasagar :- Nagarjuna Sagar, an erstwhile prominent Buddhist center, is the most attractive tourist spot in Andhra Pradesh. Named after the Buddhist monk, Acharya Nagarjuna, it is today the major hydel power station in Andhra Pradesh. It is the tallest masonry dam in the World, constructed on the river Krishna. Rajiv Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary :- The thick, verdant forests on the banks of the Krishna river between Nagarjunasagar and Srisailam, are home to a host of wild animals. The stretch has been declared a wildlife sanctuary.
