About Dal Lake

Just 11-km from Dharamshala is a beautiful picnic spot called Dal Lake. The Lake lies amidst hills and stately filled trees. It is a quiet, serene spot connected by motorable road. It is the starting point for excursions and trekking. The Dal Lake is a natural lake whose source of water is the Balan Dhar. The greenery of the trees and the beauty of the park make this place a very good picnic spot. Apart from the scenic views, you can also take a dip in the lake as it is considered to be sacred by the locals here. There are also a few tea stalls here. There is also a temple dedicated to Lord Dhruveshvar (Shiva) built by sage Agasthya. It is situated at a height of 1775 mts. An annual fair is held in September every year.
